What We are Doing
We are a group of seventh graders, who have a drive to impact patients that have Alzheimers by giving solutions to everyday problems. We use our research and apply it to our community interactively, as well as sustainably and measurably. As we make more of an impact, we want to eventually reach a point where we can make a community outreach group within our school that makes monthly trips to care homes to implement our idea.
Our idea is that for mental exercise, which slows the progression of dementia, we could start implementing the use of iPads. IPads, unlike sudoku, puzzles, and other exercise care homes are currently using, allows for more of a variety. With a variety, patients can learn at their own pace, and never have to repeat a game multiple times. Also, using IPads would incline patients to do mental exercise daily for it's a new technology. We know this because of how our, legitimate, Alzheimer test subjects reacted to the use of the applications (87% rated it a 10/10)!
